Starting in Niagara on the Lake, the Waterfront Trail heads south along the 56 km Niagara River Recreation Trail.

Niagara River Recreation Trail
If you’re the energetic type or an avid cycler, then spending some time on the Niagara River Recreation Trail is a must!
The trail is a 56 km bike path running parallel to the Niagara Parkway. Start in Niagara on the Lake, travel through Niagara Falls and end up at Fort Erie's beaches! Along the way you’ll pass so many historic sights and attractions that you’ll have a hard time choosing which ones to see. There’s wineries, the Butterfly Conservatory, the beautiful Niagara Botanical Gardens, the mighty Whirlpool and, of course, Niagara Falls – just to name a few!
Take a Break and Relax!
After all that cycling, you’ll need some time to relax! Give your legs a rest while taking a horse drawn carriage ride through Historic Old Town Niagara on the Lake.
There are also plenty of parks to enjoy while taking in some quiet time. Old Town boasts 11 stunning parks, while the rest of Niagara on the Lake has another 9 parks and green space for your enjoyment, recreation and relaxation.
Historic Fort George

Visitors to Fort George National Historic Site can step back in time to experience the early military history of Niagara.
Historic Fort George is, by far, one of the most interesting places to visit in Niagara on the Lake.
Take a step back in time to the 19th century and tour the military architecture. You can see the Blockhouses, Officers' Quarters, and Guard House, as well as the powder magazine, which is the oldest military building in Ontario, and the only surviving building of the Battle of Fort George. During the summer, you can experience live demonstrations, and taste traditionally prepared food in the Officer's Kitchen.
